MEDICAL LABORATORY SCIENTIST (MLS)

OSS is currently seeking a qualified and experienced Medical Laboratory Scientist, to fill a position within the

374TH Medical Group, Yokota AB, Japan. The best candidate possess a Bachelors or Masters level degree program in a chemical, physical, biological or clinical

laboratory science or medical technology, has two to four years of laboratory training or experience, and is already located or is PCSing to Yokota, Japan in the near future.

Requirements:

  • Education: Have earned a bachelor's or master’s degree in a chemical, physical, biological or clinical laboratory science or medical technology from an accredited institution.

  • Experience: 4 years for the bachelor's degree, or 2 years for the master's degree of laboratory training and/or experience in high complexity testing within the laboratory.

  • Preferred Certification : At least two (2) years of experience in transfusion services and/or microbiology services and certification as a Medical Laboratory Scientist by the American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP) or a Medical Technologist by the American Medical Technologists (AMT).

  • Immunizations: Before start of work, health care workers shall provide proof of immunization from the following diseases according to CDC guidelines: Hepatitis B, measles, mumps, rubella, varicella, and influenza. The RN shall also provide proof of a negative Tuberculosis (TB) skin test within 12months (if positive, proof of negative chest X-ray within 12 months) prior to start of work. After start of work, the Government will provide post blood borne exposure protocols according to applicable Air Force instructions (AFIs). Start of work is defined as the period of performance start date of the contract.
